Nuclear powered ship

Nuclear power engines use small, durable uranium fuel. After they are launched, the range of ships can be greatly increased. In 1958, the US experimental merchant ship "Savannah" first adopted nuclear power. In 1959, the 16,000-ton Soviet icebreaker "Lenin" was launched and sailed on the route between Novaya Zemlya and the Bering Sea, which was frozen three-quarters every year. Later, a sister ship "Arctic" was built. As for other countries, commercial nuclear-powered ships have not been promoted because the public is worried about the harm caused by the leakage of radioactive materials. However, there are more and more nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers, because the most important thing for warships is to extend their voyage without having to refuel and minimize their dependence on shore bases and supply ships.
