Mycophenolate mofetil

Aug 12, 2020

Mycophenolate mofetil, MMF is an ester derivative of mycophenolic acid (MPA), now commonly known as mycophenolate mofetil (trade name: CellCept), which has a unique immunosuppressive effect and high safety. MPA is metabolized by the liver, and most of the metabolites are excreted into the small intestine with bile, and are converted into MPA under the action of intestinal bacteria, and enter the blood through the portal vein to form hepatoenteric circulation. The second peak of plasma concentration occurs at about 10-12 hours, t1 /2 is 16~17h. Metabolites are mainly excreted through the kidneys, and patients with severe renal insufficiency should reduce the amount of MMF.
