Hemolytic disease of the newborn refers to blood group antibodies that are not compatible with the fetal blood group antigens produced in the mother's body due to the incompatibility of the mother and child's blood group. This antibody enters the fetus through the placenta and causes homoimmune hemolysis. The common Rh blood group system and ABO blood group system blood group incompatibility. Other causes of hemolysis in the neonatal period are erythrocyte enzymes or erythrocyte membrane defects. These have their own names. Only hemolysis with incompatible blood types is called neonatal hemolysis.
