Silicon tetrafluoride is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula SiF4. Its molecular structure is that Si atoms form σ bonds with sp3 hybrid orbitals. The molecular shape is regular tetrahedral. It is mainly used for the preparation of fluorosilicic acid and lead fluoride. Used as a hardener for cement and artificial marble, as an intermediate in the manufacture of pure silicon.
