Amorphous silica refers to the silica that exists in the soil as dehydrated silicic acid gel. Their structural units are connected by 304 tetrahedra, but their arrangement is irregular. The newly precipitated silicate gel can also aggregate with iron oxide and aluminum gel to form an amorphous silicate solid.
