Story interpretation

In 1951, the gardener Don Julián Santana Barrera heard a little girl drowning in a nearby canal calling for help. He acted immediately, but it was still too late to save the life of the female tourist. Since then, her soul has been unable to rest. The gardener every night He would hear the screams of the female tourist, and see the ghost of the little girl in his dream, which made him miserable.

For several days, the gardener caught old dolls while fishing in the canal. The gardener believed that this was the will of the underworld. In order to suppress the ghost of this child, he began to collect old people. Occasionally, it seems that this can keep the ghost of the little girl away. He began to hang old rag dolls (usually thrown away by passengers on cruise ships) from the canal on the trees on the island. After that, curious people continued to hang up their old dolls.
