Definition of magnetocrystalline anisotropy

The anisotropy of the arrangement of atoms in a single crystal often leads to anisotropy in many of its physical and chemical properties, and magnetism is one of them.

The magnetization curve of the single crystal magnetized along different crystal axis directions and the degree of difficulty of magnetization to saturation are different. That is, crystals in certain crystal axis directions are easy to magnetize, but not easy to magnetize along certain crystal axis directions. This phenomenon is called magnetocrystalline anisotropy.
