For an object in any state, take an inertial system K to make the object stationary relative to the inertial system K, then the mass of the object measured in the inertial system K is called "rest mass". The rest mass of the same object is Lorentz invariant. The mass of the object observed in other inertial frames of the object relative to its motion is called "motion mass".
