NEPE Propellant Introduction
Nitrate plasticized polyether (NEPE) propellant is the propellant with the highest specific impulse that has been applied in the world today and combines the advantages of composite and double-based propellants. The standard theoretical specific impulse reaches 2646N.s / kg and the density 1.86g / cm3. Its series of products have begun to be used in strategic and tactical missiles. NEPE propellant is a major breakthrough in the research of high-energy propellants. Its main technical innovation is to break the conventional thinking on the basis of relatively mature raw materials, introduce explosive components into solid propellants, and make full use of high-dose energetic plasticized ether binders. The excellent mechanical properties of the system have created a new idea that breaks the boundary between explosives and gunpowder and combines the advantages of double base and composite propellant. Subsequently, the energy and mechanical properties of NEPE propellants have been continuously increased by increasing the content of new energetic plasticizers and improving the properties of the binder. Compared with HTPB propellants with similar energy and burning rate, NEPE insensitive propellants have better performance in the slow burning reaction, and have lower impact and shock wave sensitivity. NEPE propellant has excellent mechanical properties in a wide temperature range and good adhesion to the lining for low temperature storage.
