Introduction to Sedimentary Rocks
Sedimentary rock is the rock formed by the process of weathering, denudation, transportation, and deposition of the original rock material. The physical and chemical properties of the original rock material will change to varying degrees during these processes. As a result, the original magnetism is basically "lost". Therefore, sedimentary rocks have low magnetism and their magnetic susceptibility is in the paramagnetic range, and they are generally called "non-magnetic" rocks.
