After entering the 1970s, the abnormal weather in the world has the characteristics of wide range, heavy disaster and long time. In this series of abnormal weather, scientists discovered that an "El Niño" tide, one of the important phenomena in the ocean and atmosphere system, played an important role.

"El Niño" is a transliteration of Spanish, and its original meaning is "Holy Infant", "Wizard" or "Son of Shengming". According to legend, long ago, the ancient Indians who lived along the coast of Peru and Ecuador paid much attention to the relationship between the ocean and the weather. If around Christmas, the nearby sea is warmer than usual, there will be heavy rain soon, accompanied by strange phenomena such as seabirds migrating in groups. Out of superstition, the ancient Indians called this abnormal warm trend the "child prodigy" trend, also called the "holy infant phenomenon". It is derived from Spanish. El Niño means holy infant in Spanish and is taken from the gospels in the Bible. The name given to Jesus by the angel Gabriel when he Announced the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary, Catholic translation is Emmanuel, which is the "El Nino" trend.
