Dicarboxylic acid refers to that in the synthesis of alkyd resin, the most commonly used dicarboxylic acid is phthalic acid (commonly used phthalic anhydride) and m-phthalic acid. Because isophthalic acid does not undergo intermolecular cyclization, alkyd resin with high molecular weight and high viscosity can be prepared.
