Characteristics of synthetic resin coatings

In order to meet the requirements of coating manufacturing and construction technology, the synthetic resin for coating needs to have the following characteristics:

① Good solubility or dispersibility in a dispersion medium for coatings.

② Has excellent film-forming properties and specific coating film properties, such as gloss, fullness, hardness, elasticity, weather resistance, chemical resistance, etc.

③ It is miscible with other synthetic resins for coatings, so as to modify each other and improve coating performance.

④ The pigment can be properly wetted to facilitate the dispersion of the pigment in the coating.

⑤ Good storage stability.

⑥ The molecular weight is appropriate. For example, the molecular weight of synthetic resins for solvent-based cross-linked curing coatings is generally below 104, the molecular weight of synthetic resins for solvent-based non-conversion coatings is from 104 to 105, and the molecular weight for latex coatings is above 105.

Resin for electrodeposition coating should be charged and soluble in water.
