Tread rubber introduction
The tread rubber is required to have high abrasion resistance, fatigue resistance, good aging resistance, high tensile strength, elasticity and toughness, and low heat build-up during running. It can be made from raw rubber such as natural rubber, styrene butadiene rubber, cis isoprene rubber and butadiene rubber. A large amount of carbon black is often added to the compound to improve its physical and mechanical properties. The rubber compound can be extruded by a screw extruder or calendered by a calender. The tread rubber made by the former method has superior quality and large production capacity. The tire repair glue used to repair the tire is also often called tread rubber.
