theory of chemical bond
A theory of bonding between adjacent atoms (or ions) within a molecule (or crystal). According to this theory, atoms (or ions) are combined into molecules (or crystals) in the form of chemical bonds. The physical mechanism for the formation of chemical bonds is electromagnetic interaction.
