The Origin Of The Bobsleigh Project

Aug 24, 2020

Beneath sledge originated in the small town of St. Moritz in the Swiss mountains in the 19th century, and it may be the first sliding project. The first bobsleigh race was held in 1884. Participants were on icy roads from St. Moritz to Celerina. The winner received a bottle of champagne as a reward. In 1887, a prone position similar to today's sledge began to appear. In 1892, it was officially named Skeleton because the sledge was shaped like a human skeleton, also called a skeleton snowmobile.
