Practical applications of distillation and rectification
Distillation and rectification are mainly used for liquids, or chemical reagents that can become liquids by heating, especially for purification of organic chemical reagents. Before distillation or rectification, certain chemical reagents may sometimes be added to chemically react with impurities in the chemical reagent to be purified to produce substances with higher boiling points (or lower), which are easier to remove during distillation or rectification.
