Mechanisms To Resolve Defects In Automotive Products

Feb 07, 2021

After decades of development, automotive product recalls have become a mature mechanism for solving automotive product defects, making great contributions to the protection of the public's personal and property safety and the healthy development of the automotive industry in various countries. The automotive product recall originated in the United States. In 1966, the US Congress passed the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act), and the competent authority is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The law clearly stipulates the relevant manufacturers, management departments, management procedures and recall methods for the recall of defective automobile products, and stipulates that automakers are obliged to publicly release information about automobile recalls to consumers and management authorities. Subsequently, Japan, the United Kingdom, and France began to implement automobile product recalls in 1969, 1979 and 1984 respectively. In 2004, four ministries including the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China jointly issued the "Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products", and Peugeot China began to implement the management of automobile product recalls.
