Introduction to shear-wave splitting
When a shear wave enters an anisotropic medium, it is immediately separated into two types of shear waves with orthogonal polarities, one is quasi-shear wave (qSV wave), and the other is pure shear wave (SH wave). This phenomenon is also called birefringence, which is caused by the anisotropy of velocity.
