Introduction to martensite
Martensite is a kind of organization name of ferrous metal material, which is a supersaturated solid solution of carbon in α-Fe. It was first discovered in a hard mineral in the 1890s by the German metallurgist Adolf Martens (1850-1914). The three-dimensional structure of martensite is usually plate or lath, but in metallographic observation (two-dimensional) it is usually needle-shaped, which is why it is usually The reason is described as needle-like. The crystal structure of martensite is a body-centered tetragonal structure (BCT). Accelerated cooling in medium and high carbon steels can usually achieve this structure. High strength and hardness are one of the main characteristics of martensite in steel.
