Hydrolase definition
Hydrolase is the general name of a class of enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis reaction (for example, trypsin is a kind of hydrolase that hydrolyzes the polypeptide chain). It can also be said that they are a special type of transferase that uses water as the receptor for the transferred group.
