Herringbone Cross Bedding

The herringbone cross bedding is a rock formation where the two sets of laminae adjacent to the top and bottom are inclined in opposite directions, much like a feather. They are often formed in tidal zones, due to the opposite direction of the currents of rising and falling tides.
