Glyceraldehyde chemical properties

Glyceraldehyde is easily enolized and converted into dihydroxyacetone (Lobry-de Bruyn-van Ekenstein conversion), which forms an equilibrium mixture with the latter in an aqueous solution, called triose. The aldehyde group is more active and is generally stored in the form of methanol acetal.
