Glucose is the most widely distributed and most important monosaccharide in nature, and it is a polyhydroxy aldehyde. Pure glucose is colorless crystal, sweet but not as sweet as sucrose, easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether.
