Does Makeup Really Make Acne Serious

Nov 03, 2020

Acne is like a bad tenant, even if it has moved away, you still have to deal with its traces. Acne scars are unfortunate souvenirs caused by acne. Although you can treat acne scars through dermatological treatments and surgical procedures, some people may prefer to try makeup to cover them first.

Acne scars are divided into two basic types: concave and convex. The scars also appear in different colors according to the length and type of growth, including red, purple, pink, brown and white.

Unfortunately, makeup cannot fill in depressions or flatten raised scars, but it can balance the color and make the scars better integrate with other parts of the skin. The best option to cover red scars is to use a green concealer that can neutralize it. Then, you can apply foundation on the concealer and mix the two evenly. If you have pink and white scars, try using natural-toned concealer or foundation to camouflage them and make them consistent with the rest of the skin.

If makeup does not adequately cover the scar, consider discussing other options with your doctor. The dermatologist should consider the severity of the scar and its impact on the psychological and emotional state when recommending treatment options. Possible options discussed with the dermatologist include microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and photodynamic therapy. Skin dermabrasion can remove the surface layer of the skin, chemical peels can clear the pores, and surgery can remove real acne, such as whiteheads and blackheads. Photodynamic therapy uses a special kind of light combined with a drug to destroy certain skin cells, allowing doctors to remove blemishes.

Makeup is just a tool to deal with acne. If you use cosmetics wisely, you don't have to cover yourself at all.
