Crystal protein has no enzymatic activity and can be considered as a constituent protein with the function of maintaining crystal transparency. As the animal ages, the insoluble protein of the crystal increases. This insoluble protein is called albumin (albu-minoid). The α-crystallin, the γ-crystallin of the rat and the FISC of the chicken have been separated.
