Single trailing arm type independent suspension

If the steering wheel adopts a single trailing arm type independent suspension, the wheel bouncing up and down will cause a great change in the caster angle of the kingpin. Therefore, single trailing arm type independent suspension is generally used for non-steerable rear wheels.

Classified according to the form of wheel movement, the rear suspension of the Fukang car belongs to the single trailing arm type torsion bar spring independent suspension.

The rear suspension structure of Santana and Jetta cars is the same, and it is also a single trailing arm type independent suspension. It has an integral V-shaped cross-section beam with variable cross-section tubular longitudinal arms welded at both ends to form an integral frame-the rear axle body. The front end of the trailing arm is articulated with the body through a rubber-metal support. The rear end of the trailing arm is connected with the hub and the shock absorber. When the car is running, the wheels and the rear axle body swing up and down with the rubber-metal support as the fulcrum relative to the body, which is equivalent to a single trailing arm type independent suspension. When the deformation of the suspension on both sides is unequal, the V-shaped cross-section beam of the rear axle body undergoes torsional deformation. Because the beam has greater elasticity, it can act as a lateral stabilizer. Unlike ordinary non-independent suspensions with integral axles, the bounce of one wheel will directly affect the other wheel. Therefore, this suspension is also called trailing arm torsion beam independent suspension.
