Reasons for insufficient compressor displacement

Reasons for insufficient compressor displacement

1) Compressor inlet parameter change. When the compressor inlet volume flow is stable, the intake pressure is reduced or the intake air temperature is increased, which will cause the compressor characteristic curve to move down, causing the mass flow of the compressor inlet to drop, which in turn affects Compressor outlet displacement. Common causes include inlet filter clogging resulting in reduced intake pressure, upstream process changes causing intake air temperature rise.

2) The pipe network resistance is too high. If the pipe or valve in the compressor exhaust pipe network is blocked, the pipe network resistance will increase, and the pipe network characteristic curve will move to the left, which will cause the compressor discharge pressure to rise. The gas volume is reduced.

3) The compressor speed drops. The compressor speed is proportional to the displacement. If the speed of the compressor suddenly drops due to some reason (such as motor belt slip), the compressor characteristic curve will move downward, and the displacement will be inevitable. Will decrease.

4) Internal failure of the compressor. For example, if the intermediate cooler of the compressor has a reduced heat exchange efficiency due to fouling or a decrease in the flow rate of the cooling water, the heat of the compressed high-temperature gas cannot be sufficiently taken away by the cooling water, resulting in The intake temperature of the next stage rises, which reduces the displacement of the compressor. In addition, during the operation of the compressor, the interstage seal failure often occurs due to wear, corrosion, etc. As the leakage at the seal gradually increases, At the inlet of the stage, the temperature of the gas gradually rises, and the temperature of the exhaust gas after the leak increases, resulting in a decrease in the displacement of the compressor. Both of these conditions cause the compressor characteristic curve to move downward.
