Pore water pressure

Pore water pressure refers to the pressure of groundwater in soil or rock, which acts between particles or pores. It is divided into static pore water pressure and excess pore water pressure. For the highly permeable soil under the condition of no water flow, the pore water pressure is approximately equal to the hydrostatic pressure under no water flow. For highly permeable soils with water flow, the calculation of pore water pressure is more complicated.
