Polymer adhesive classification

① Thermosetting adhesive. It is mainly made of a thermosetting resin containing a reactive group. According to the different resins, heat resistance, water resistance, light resistance, ultra-low temperature resistance and other characteristics can be obtained. Used for wood processing, metal and non-metal structural connection, interlayer bonding of laminates, etc.

② Thermoplastic adhesive. Mainly made of thermoplastic polymer with linear polymer structure. Because resin molecules do not crosslink, they can be formulated into one-component solvent-based adhesives and solid hot-melt adhesives that are heated to a molten state. It has good adhesion, fast curing, and good toughness. It is used for bonding metal parts, electronic devices, and paper products. It is also used for wood processing, packaging, and binding.

③ rubber type adhesive. Made from synthetic rubber or natural rubber. There are solution type, latex type and low polymerization liquid rubber type, and the solution type is commonly used. It has good adhesion, resistance to aging, and easy to use. It is used for bonding metal, rubber products, leather, and fabric.

④ Compound adhesive. Mainly made of thermosetting resin and synthetic rubber or thermoplastic resin. It not only has the high strength of thermosetting adhesive, but also has the characteristics of heat resistance, aging resistance, and corrosion resistance to chemical media. It also has high peeling and high impact resistance of rubber-type (or thermoplastic resin) adhesives.
