Nitrocellulose is an organic polymer compound with the chemical formula (C6H7N3O11)n. It is the product of the esterification reaction of cellulose and nitric acid. It is white or yellowish cotton wool, insoluble in water, and soluble in organic solvents such as ester and acetone.
