Introduction to tropomyosin
Tropomyosin is a binding protein with actin in thin myofilaments. It has a molecular weight of 2×35kDa and a length of 41nm. It consists of two parallel polypeptide chains in an α-helical configuration. Each tropomyosin connects end to end to form a continuous line. The chain binds to the actin filaments and is located in the grooves of the double helix.
