The clock period is also called the oscillation period and is defined as the inverse of the clock frequency. A clock cycle is the most basic and smallest unit of time in a computer. In one clock cycle, the CPU performs only one of the most basic actions. A clock cycle is an amount of time. The clock period indicates the highest frequency at which the SDRAM can operate. Smaller clock cycles mean higher operating frequencies.
