Gas Turbine Vehicle

Jan 17, 2021

A gas turbine locomotive is a locomotive that generates power from a gas turbine and drives the wheels through a transmission device. Gas turbine locomotives have their own energy and are a type of diesel locomotive, born in the 1930s.

Gas turbine locomotives can be divided into open gas turbine locomotives and compound gas turbine locomotives according to the type of gas turbine used. The high-pressure and high-temperature gas of the former gas turbine is produced by its impeller compressor and combustion chamber; the latter's gas is produced by a piston gas generator.

The gas generators of compound gas turbines are divided into free piston type and connecting rod piston type, so gas turbines are divided into free piston gas turbine locomotives and connecting rod piston gas turbine locomotives.
