Drive axle classification

The drive axle is divided into two categories: non-disconnected and disconnected.

1.Non-disconnected

When the drive wheel is a non-independent suspension, a non-disconnected drive axle should be used. The non-breaking drive axle is also called an integral drive axle, and both the semi-axle sleeve and the final drive housing are rigidly connected to the shaft shell by an integral beam, so that the half shafts on both sides are oscillated in relation to the drive wheels, through elasticity The components are connected to the frame. It consists of a drive axle housing, a final drive, a differential and a half shaft.

2. Disconnected

The drive axle adopts an independent suspension, that is, the final reducer case is fixed on the frame, and the half shafts and the drive wheels on both sides can move relative to the vehicle body in the transverse plane, which is called a disconnected drive axle.

In order to cooperate with the independent suspension, the final drive housing is fixed to the frame (or body), the drive axle housing segments are connected by hinges, or there are no other parts of the drive axle housing other than the final drive housing. In order to adapt to the need of the independent driving up and down of the driving wheel, the universal joint is connected between the differential shaft and the half shaft between the wheels.
