Caribbean Plate

Apr 26, 2022

The Caribbean Plate is an east-west small plate dominated by the Caribbean Sea. The northern boundary is the Cayman left-traveling transform fault, and the southern boundary is the Falcon right-travelling transform fault that protrudes into northern Venezuela. The eastern boundary is along the Puerto Rico Trench east of the Lesser Antilles Arc. This part of the Atlantic oceanic crust is now subducting westward.
