The anomalous Zeeman effect refers to the atoms in the weak magnetic field. Because the magnetic field is weak enough, the spin-orbit coupling energy cannot be ignored; the fine structure of the atomic energy level is further split due to the existence of the weak magnetic field, which is called the anomalous Zeeman effect.
