American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Gasoline Labeling and Performance Introduction

SA

For gasoline and diesel engines.

Used for old-fashioned engines with very mild operating conditions. Except for the special recommendation of the car manufacturer, it is no longer used.

The oil contains no other types of additives other than pour point depressants and antifoaming agents.

SB

For use in gasoline engines with very low loads.

Used for old-fashioned gasoline engines with mild conditions. Except for the special recommendation of the automobile manufacturer, it is no longer used.

The oil has a degree of oxidation and wear resistance.

SC

Gasoline engine for 1964-1967 cars and trucks. This oil can control high and low temperature deposits of gasoline, wear, rust and corrosion.

The oil has the property of preventing sediment and rust.

SD

It is used in petrol engines for small cars and some trucks produced in 1968-1971, and is suitable for domestically produced gasoline engines such as Jiefang and Dongfeng. This oil is superior to SC grade oil in preventing high temperature and low temperature deposits, wear, rust and corrosion of gasoline engines and can be used to replace SC grade oils.

The oil meets the requirements of the car manufacturer from 1968 to 1971 and has low temperature resistant sludge and rust resistance.

SE

Used in gasoline engines after 1972 and certain 1971-type cars and some trucks. Applicable to Peugeot, Santana, Xiali and early Toyota, Nissan, Honda and other cars. The oil's oxidation resistance and protection against high temperature deposits, wear, rust and corrosion of gasoline engines are superior to SC or SD grade oils and can be used to replace SC or SD grade oils.

The oil meets the requirements of the automobile manufacturer from 1972 to 1979, and is mainly used in small cars, which have high temperature oxidation performance and prevent low temperature sludge and rust.

SF

For the maintenance method recommended by the automobile manufacturer, after the 1980s | gasoline cars for some cars and some trucks, such as Audi, Cherokee and other models. This oil has better oxidation resistance and wear resistance than SE grade oil and can be used to replace SE, SD or SC grade oils.

The oil meets the requirements of the automobile manufacturer in 1980. It is mainly used in a variety of operating conditions, with anti-soil, anti-paint film, anti-corrosion, anti-wear and high temperature thickening performance.

SG

It has higher detergency, high temperature oxidation stability and wear resistance than SF. Applicable to all domestic and imported new six-cylinder BMW, Jaguar, Cadillac, Lexus, Lincoln and other high-class cars, while also meeting the medium-sized passenger cars of various gasoline engines.

It has better high temperature oxygen scavenging and abrasion resistance than SF grade.

SH

It has higher performance than SG and is particularly good at high temperatures. Applicable to the latest imported cars such as Lincoln, Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Honda.

It has better high temperature oxygen detergency and abrasion resistance than SG grade.
